Start really enjoying your TS1000/ZX81 on a modern TV!

There are other adaptors, but this Composite Video Adaptor for the TS1000/ZX81 gives the best results - just check the Timex/Sinclair forums and online product reviews.

I purchased a dozen of these adaptors from Germany to upgrade TS1000s and ZX81 in my inventory that I want to resell.  The results are a joy to behold - the resulting video display is crystal clear.

I am now importing and reselling this amazing product so you can enjoy using your TS1000/ZX81 on modern televisions too.  You can order the same boards from Europe, but they will most likely take you the same 2 weeks in transit that it took me to get mine.

I have created clear installation instructions for the TS1000s and U. S. ZX81s with Channel 2-3 VHF modulators, (as well as the European  ZX81s that have channel 33 UHF modulators).

You can install the ZX8-CCB in the TS1000/ZX81's RF modulator, or you can install the board elsewhere in the the computer without disturbing the RF Modulator and connect it to an external RCA video jack. Because it is not unheard of for the keyboard's flexible cable to become brittle with age and crack if stressed, this second is the more cautious approach because it does not require you to remove the TS1000 circuit board from the top of the TS1000 case and disturb the membrane keyboard.

NOTE: While it is not particularly difficult to install this adaptor, I would only recommend you purchase it if you have good eyesight and are experienced soldering electronic components.  I only want happy customers.  It is not the case that "anyone can do it".

1 - The ZX8-CCB assembled and tested composite video adaptor

2 - An example installation of the ZX8-CCB installed in place of the RF modulator board

3 - An example of the ZX8-CCB that was made without removing the TS1000 PCB from the computer's top case half that has the membrane keyboard.   The ZX8-CCB is taped to the bottom of a TS1000 PCB below the RF Modulator.  Two video output wires are brought through an 1/8" diameter hole drilled in the side of the bottom case half and connected to a bracket-mounted external video video jack.

4 - The ZX8-CCB and what I ship you to make your installation easier: some hookup wire, double sticky tape, and a female chassis mount RCA video jack to use if you decide not to use the RF Modulator for you installation.

With each ZX8-CCB you will receive

1 - The fully tested ZX8-CCB circuit board assembly
2 - lengths of 3 different color hookup wire
3 - some double-sided double sticky tape
4 - a female RCA video jack you can use if you decide not to use the TS1000/ZX81 RF Video Modulator's video jack
