Photos from the Nov.6 - Dec. 4, 2012 xCubicle Beginning Website Design with Joomla course. The xcubicle space accomodades a maximum of about 12 people with their laptops, seated at two tables. Each student gets their own Hostagor hosting account for use in their studies. About one third of the students bring Apple MAC laptops to class and the rest Microsoft Windows. Teaching assistant Ron Painter, shown standing in the background, the helps students with questions complete the exercises. Nearly all the student know HTML and CSS and have developed website using Dremwewaver or WordPress. Some know one or more computer languages. The instructor answers questions directly on the topic at hand and on other student questions. The instructor uses a combination of demonstrating procedures, which the students then implement, and presenting reference information using Power Point slides. We all load the JCE Editor which offers many more features than the built-in Joomla editor. Most experienced Joomla developers employ commercial Joomla templates. We all load the Yootheme Master template in class to study its extensive feature set.
